To get you started the first time or after a device reset:
- Install the Wickr app from our website, iTunes, or the Google Play store.
- Open the app and hit the "Register" button
- Create a username (Wickr ID)
- Create a password and enter it twice
If you do not see a checkmark next to your username, the name is invalid, please use alphanumeric characters only (0-9 and a-z).
If you are missing a checkmark next to the first password, your password is invalid. Try using a combination of upper- and lowercase letters, numbers, and special symbols.
If you are missing a checkmark next to the second password, it does not match your first password. Please retype both to make sure they match.
Note: Your username and password for the Wickr Support website are not connected to your Wickr ID and password. The credentials used for this site will not work in the Wickr app.
IMPORTANT: Currently, there is a bug that causes some devices to report a generic error message instead of the "Username already in use" error. If you see an unusual server error when registering a new account, please try a different name (i.e., `wickruser1945` if `wickruser` gave you a user error). This bug is already fixed and is in line to be rolled out in an update in the next few weeks.
