By default, Data Retention is not enabled in AWS Wickr. For Wickr Enterprise, Data Retention has to be configured for a network before users are provisioned. The Wickr Administrator for your network will need to create and enable the data retention feature to allow content sent from your Wickr network to be retained for auditory and regulatory purposes.
Once Data Retention is enabled, users within your Wickr network will see a notification in the app informing them that all in-network communications come under their organization’s Data Retention policies, as applied by their network administrator. This includes conversations between users in the network (internal users) and those with users in federated networks (external users), including external teams, vendors etc.
Wickr does not have access to a customer’s Data Retention content. All data is held and managed by the customer. The customer's systems administrator will need to ensure that the retained content is stored securely in accordance with regulations/policies affecting their business communications.
